Description

This level one class looks to introduce the technical aspects of lost wax carving and is a great introduction to those looking to start or widen their jewellery making knowledge.

This class allows you to experiment in the sculptural element of jewellery making and will introduce you to a completely alternate jewellery making technique to traditional silversmithing.

An ancient art in itself, lox wax casting was originally established as a metal working technique in the bronze age and has developed through millennia to this very specific manufacturing process.

In this level 1 class you will be introduced to the different nature of jeweller’s wax and the nature of the material and how to manipulate it where you will have the opportunity to experiment in sculpting and building in this very different media. In this class you can create a ring or pendant or a test/sample piece which will then be cast in silver or a bronze alloy and returned to you as a finished piece.

With lots of inspiration to guide you, this short course is perfect for the jewellers looking to express their ideas in alternative ways or for those beginning at their jewellery journey to widen their understanding of general jewellery making.
